WINNER OF THE 42nd MINI PRINT INTERNATIONAL OF CADAQUÉS, 2022

Born in Bern, Switzerland, in 1953, Marianne studied German literature and philosophy at the University of Bern (diploma 1987), and later arts in Zurich in order to get an arts teaching degree. She was teaching arts from 1996 till 2017.
During her whole life Marianne loved colors and felt attracted to play with them. Her favorite techniques are painting, especially the pigment/egg/oil technique as well as acrylic, watercolor and crayon techniques.
“Over the years gravure technology became very important to me. In the beginning there was just the need to get acquainted with gravure because it was part of the arts studies. But gravure became a great love that started in 1989 and lasts till today. It seized me and never let me go and I am clinging to it ever since!”
She likes walking and hiking wherever she is, but especially in the mountains. Most fascinating to her is the changing landscape while moving and the surprising views of alpine spaces. Marianne carries along her sketchbook, pencils, crayons as well as a little watercolor equipment and the camera. “Making sketches of what I see while walking through the landscape is like writing a diary in shapes and colors. It helps me to remember what I saw and experienced.”
Marianne regularly exhibits her work in different galleries. Since 2017 she has been invited three times to participate in the “Impression”, the Swiss Biennial of Grafic Art, at Grenchen, Switzerland. The city of Brugg bought two watercolor works in 2003.
