Born in 1947 in Sant Just Desvern, Barcelona, in 1976 she got a degree in Fine Arts –painting specialisation– in the University of Barcelona, where she defended her doctoral thesis in 1992. From 2006 she is studying lithography and intagio with art teacher Cristina Pérez Alay at the workshop Traç in Barcelona.
Balada has been a teacher of visual arts in primary and secondary education from 1973 to 1986, and professor of didactics of visual education and arts at the Faculty of teacher’s training in the University of Barcelona from 1986 to 2004.
She has written articles, monographs and books about visual and arts education and about didactics of art. Balada is co-author of 15 books in the collection Fragments (workshops of visual arts).
